Enersense designs, builds, and maintains energy and telecommunications infrastructure while supporting its customers' energy transition efforts across the Nordics and Baltics. Operating in several business areas, the company recognizes the growing importance of reliable and accessible sustainability data, both for effective business management and for meeting customer expectations.
Enersense has been conducting emissions calculations for several years. The next step is to elevate its data management and sustainability accounting capabilities by implementing Microsoft Sustainability Manager as part of its broader Microsoft ecosystem. Efima is supporting Enersense in the deployment and ongoing development of the solution.
The first phase of the project focuses on emissions accounting as well as the collection, consolidation, and management of sustainability data. The work builds on Enersense’s Microsoft Fabric data platform, enabling sustainability data from multiple source systems to be unified and standardized in one place. This creates a strong foundation for making sustainability data more valuable in both reporting and business development. Following the implementation phase, the collaboration will continue through managed services and further development initiatives.
"Our goal is to advance our customers’ sustainability efforts, for example by helping them reduce their climate impacts. High-quality data plays a critical role in demonstrating the value of our sustainability work to customers. We want to ensure that we have a reliable and actionable data foundation that supports both our own decision-making and our customers’ evolving needs in the future. Efima’s strong expertise in sustainability data management and Microsoft technologies made them a natural partner for this next stage of our development", says Liisi Tamminen, VP, Communications, Investor Relations and Sustainability at Enersense.
The collaboration was preceded by a pilot project in which the suitability of Microsoft Sustainability Manager was evaluated using Enersense’s own data. The pilot validated the solution’s capabilities in practice and helped establish a shared vision for developing sustainability data management through a phased and structured approach. It also demonstrated the effectiveness of the partnership itself.
"When data is reliable and readily available for business use, it becomes a valuable tool for managing and advancing sustainability efforts. Together with Enersense, we share the view that sustainability data should be developed incrementally but purposefully as an integral part of the business. At the same time, this creates opportunities for future AI-driven innovation. We are proud to support a company whose work plays such an important role in enabling the energy transition and building society’s critical infrastructure", comments Teija Puurunen, Business Director of Efima’s Sustainability Solutions business unit.
