In care work, every minute matters. A care home is a resident’s home, and everyday life generates a vast amount of information that must be recorded – notes about the resident’s condition, procedures, and daily events. These entries are often created only at the end of a shift, using shared devices and relying heavily on memory.
Efima and Attendo set out to address these documentation challenges using artificial intelligence. The result is Efima Puhekirjaus, a solution that simplifies the everyday work of care professionals and frees up more time for meaningful interactions. The solution was built by observing daily routines in care homes and genuinely listening to the needs and wishes of care workers. This makes the Best User Experience win particularly significant.
“The problem was approached from exactly the right perspective: where technology can genuinely help. The work demonstrates excellently that AI is not merely a threat to jobs, as is often feared, but an enabler that frees time for meaningful encounters. The user experience was highly intuitive and natural, clearly born from genuine user insight. A textbook example of user experience design that focuses on what matters and keeps the strategy crystal clear. A meaningful outcome that improves people’s wellbeing,” the Grand One jury describes.
Minna Nissinen, Attendo’s Technology and Business Development Director, celebrates the achievement: “Winning the award for best user experience is proof that we are doing something truly right. The care sector, which has long lagged behind in digitalization, deserves technology that genuinely supports it. A big thank you to everyone at Attendo and Efima who contributed. This is our shared victory!”
Sami Sipiläinen, Customer Director at Efima, adds: “We began by observing how care homes operate, without preconceived assumptions, and identifying where technology could ease the everyday workload. It has been inspiring to see how close collaboration with Attendo’s care workers has resulted in a solution that genuinely supports daily care work – and that is precisely why this win feels so meaningful.”
