09.08.2019 | Suvi considers the versatile tasks and customer work to be the best aspects of the financial management consultant's job.

As a customer of Efima, Suvi Antila already drew attention to the company's development-oriented approach and the atmosphere emanating from the employees. In the end, Suvi decided to express her interest in changing jobs and sent an open application to Efima.

"I liked Efima already in the role of a customer. When the people of Efima came to the meetings, they immediately got everyone to a good feeling and when they left, they were missed. I thought that the only company I could imagine switching to was Efima," says Suvi. At first, however, Efima could not find a suitable postion for her.

In autumn 2018, Suvi received a call from Efima. "Now there would be a couple of positions open", it was said on the phone. After a few rounds of interviews and case exercises, the right position was found, and soon Suvi started at Efima as a financial management outsourcing consultant.

A comprehensive orientation led to a fast-paced start

"During the first six months, I have already been able to do many things at Efima. The orientation at the beginning was really comprehensive and everything from the company's values to getting to know your own team was handled in an exemplary manner," describes Suvi. "Furthermore, as Efima has it, I got my own named mentor colleague, with whose help I was able to smoothly familiarize myself with my work tasks and in the uncertain moments at the beginning, help was easily available."

"Of course, it was known that you have to be willing and able to learn and internalize a lot of new things, but perhaps it was a positive surprise that the necessary tools for learning everything new have been given and supported with various orientation sessions and materials," says Suvi. "At Efima, a suitable orientation path has also been planned, which means that by doing practical work, you have been allowed to learn on your own, and the responsibility and challenges have steadily increased."

After the orientation, Suvi has been given a good amount of responsibility: "I have gotten to work with several clients, in my part responsible for the realization of customer satisfaction, and in development projects, developing the Efima way of working. In addition, I have independently managed the service takeover of one travel ledger customer, from defining the target status to training the service team."

No two days alike

"My working day usually starts the day before by looking at the schedule for the next day's meetings and making the necessary preparations for them. Anticipation and planning the future work weeks is important in order to know how to prioritize and schedule tasks and preferably prepare future customer meetings well in advance," says Suvi.

"The best thing about my job is the versatile tasks and customer work. When you work as a consultant, you have to earn the clients' trust anew every day," says Suvi. "I don't think there is a standard day, which is the best part of my job, but a typical day could include, for example, a service status meeting held with a customer on Skype, a development workshop held at another customer's office, an internal project meeting, and a couple of hours of drawing robotics process flowcharts with the Confluence tool," Suvi continues.

In Suvi's opinion, one thing in the work of an financial management outsourcing consultant stands out above the others: "The best thing is when you can develop and enhance the client's processes in such a way that the processes serve their purpose, are efficient and as automated as possible. There are several routine tasks in financial management that can be handled together with the help of robotics and artificial intelligence, after the process has first been honed to its peak."

Independent, but not lonely

According to Suvi, the consultant's work is independent and comes with a lot of responsibly, and managing one's own work is important. The work is still not lonely and is done in accordance with Efima's value together for better. "Interactions with colleagues are uncomplicated and the best solutions are found as a group. Together we achieve solutions that take into account as many different perspectives as possible," says Suvi.

"At Efima, you can and should challenge both yourself and others, which is one of the secrets to developing skills and maintaining interest. The sparring culture is naturally strong, which means we want to work together and truly be even stronger as a team."

Happy employees ensure happy customers

"Efima takes different life situations into account and encourages employees to find flexible solutions both in their career paths and in balancing work and other parts of one's life," says Suvi. Work can be done flexibly, regardless of location, for example from home, a cottage or even at the beach.

"Efima has concretely internalized that a well-being employee best fulfills the company's strategic goals, is a more efficient and productive colleague and makes customers want more!", Suvi sums up.
