Making entries a seamless part of daily work
In care work, recording entries is essential for ensuring continuity, quality, and safety of care, but it can also place a burden on daily work and take time away from direct interactions. Since March, Rinnekodit has been piloting AI-assisted entry recording, a feature of Efima’s Care AI platform, at the Rinnekodit Scilla care home, which provides 24-hour care for older people. The solution automatically converts speech into text and simultaneously generates structured entries in accordance with the resident information system.
By early May, 8,000 confirmed entries had been completed using the system at Rinnekodit Scilla, and everyday care work has changed rapidly. Entries are now recorded more evenly throughout shifts, reducing end-of-shift pressure. Entries can be captured more flexibly, with higher quality, and closer to the client.
People first, technology as support
The pilot is driven by a broader need to reduce the administrative burden of care work. “In the social and healthcare sector, leveraging technology is not an end in itself, but a means to streamline work and improve quality. Through technological innovations, we free up time for what matters most – interactions with clients. The AI-assisted entry recording piloted with Efima is an excellent example of this,” says Annareetta Vaara, Business Director at Rinnekodit.
From Efima’s perspective, the core of development is to support everyday care work by providing easy-to-use ways to capture and utilize data generated in care situations.
“When entries can be recorded through speech in real-life situations, it reduces cognitive load and the rush at the end of shifts. What matters is that the solution has been designed on the terms of care work, allowing AI technology to become an almost invisible part of daily routines. However, the division of responsibility remains clear: AI assists, humans decide,” says Sami Sipiläinen, Customer Director at Efima.
