Renew everyday care – people, practices, and technology in focus
Artificial intelligence and automation can ease care work when they are integrated into daily routines and adapted to everyday practices. Solutions co-designed with staff support work in impactful and safe ways. Efima is a development partner for social and care services, creating effective solutions by considering people, practices, and technology together.
People first, supported by technology
In social and care services, staff shortages, quality requirements, and cost pressures are evident in daily work: documentation piles up, shift changes rely on memory, and onboarding is burdensome. Additionally, employees’ work is often guided by heavy information systems, which take time away from client work.
If only processes are developed, changes may remain theoretical. Conversely, if only technology is introduced, solutions may become disconnected. Efima’s approach combines both: the needs of everyday work define the direction of development, and technology (AI, automation, integrations) makes work smoother and more impactful. This way, technology is genuinely utilized, and the information it produces supports management.
Examples of achieved benefits
- Time savings – documentation happens alongside work, not dictating it
- Better data quality – up-to-date, structured information is available
- Work meaningfulness – workload decreases, presence increases
- Information flows – across shifts and units, in multiple languages

Impact does not happen by accident. Listening and observing everyday work are our starting points for effective technology utilization. We often receive positive feedback: sharing experiences and ideas is considered important, and these moments are rewarding for both care staff and us as developers.

How can AI streamline everyday life in social and care services?
Examples of opportunities identified with our clients for utilizing AI. Solutions are developed and adapted to the client’s daily work together with staff.
Speech entries
Entries can be dictated during the workday, so they no longer interrupt work or pile up at the end of the day. This significantly reduces the time spent on record-keeping
Communication with relatives
More precise information about a resident’s care can be shared with family members, improving collaboration and transparency.
Internal communication
The right information can be delivered more automatically and smoothly to the necessary individuals and teams.
Summaries
Resident- or client-specific summaries can be easily prepared for the next shift. They can be listened to in different languages, and clarifying questions can be asked.
Highlights
The quality of information can be improved with helpful highlights, for example, reminders to complete missing details in entries.
Observations and suggestions
A single and easy way to report, for example, development suggestions, property-related observations, or procurement needs.
Attendo | AI service developed with care workers saved time and reduced workload
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health has evaluated the use of an AI solution developed by Attendo and the digital company Efima for documentation in care work. The development project demonstrated that a solution utilizing speech recognition technology can reduce the workload of care staff, improve the quality of documentation, and enhance job satisfaction.

Adopting this new way of documenting is truly a significant improvement in nursing work. We’ve been part of the development process with an innovative approach, and the new technological solutions haven’t added extra stress for Attendo staff. In fact, those less accustomed to using computers are eagerly anticipating this upgrade
